Entitled ‘The Power of Museums‘, the 26th ICOM General Conference takes place 20-28 August 2022 in Prague, Czech Republic. With the theme ‘The Power of Museums’, ICOM Prague 2022 will focus on four main issues in which museums and the larger cultural field can be agents of positive change: the fair advancement of civil society; implementing the Sustainable Development Goals; access to culture through digital innovation; and leadership in the museum sector. Additionally, the General Conference will be the background of the debate and vote on a new museum definition.

For the first time in ICOM’s history, the General Conference will take place in a new hybrid format.

Building on the spirit of innovation and resilience that has marked the community outreach programmes of museums around the world, a digital platform will provide participants from all over the world remote access to the scientific programme of ICOM Prague 2022.

The results of the search for a new definition of “museum” will be presented at ICOM Prague 2022.

CIPEG will hold is 2022 Annual Meeting 22-23 August at the Congress Centre in Prague.
