Fight against illicit trafficking in cultural goods

CIPEG is an international committee of ICOM (Article 13 of the ICOM Statutes), representing the latter in the care, protection and advocacy of ancient Egyptian and Sudanese collections worldwide. In this capacity CIPEG contributes to the development and implementation of ICOM’s programs and international actions and projects, such as the ICOM Red Lists of Cultural Objects at Risk and the International Observatory, both of which are tools for sharing information on and promoting cooperation in the fight against illicit trafficking in cultural goods, including those from Egypt and the Sudan.
